The I am Foundation, a nonprofit organization, was founded in 2013 and became a 501c3 organization in 2016. It was discovered that many youth in the community lacked meaningful academic and career guidance. Determined to make a difference, the I Am Foundation devised a program that would help young men in the community to reach their goals by providing leadership and positive direction. The I Am Foundation fosters a commitment to young people that will not only promote pro-social friendships, but strong interpersonal skills as well. Through personal relationships can a sense of individual responsibility be reestablished that will give youth the commitment to follow through on the path to adulthood with a sense of pride and accomplishment.
The I Am Foundation has created a series of programs that pair young boys between the ages 6-18 with a trained mentor who will assist him in developing the habits and perspective that will lead to success and hopefulness in the future. We have learned from outside sources that if there is a solid foundation, and with the right people affiliated, failure is not an option. Our goal is to provide guidance and positive direction in developing independent life skills to help enrich their future experiences. Our program provides relationships with caring professional adults who work to help them reach their potential. Every child should have the opportunity to receive a quality high school education and every child should receive the skills and tools needed to advance to the next level whether it be college, acquiring a trade, or entrepreneurship.
We believe there is greatness in every young male, but it just needs to be found, activated and harnessed. It is our desire to pursue the greatness that lies within our youth, agitate, cultivate and culminate it insuring success to be a part of their future.
